Woo hoo! It’s been a bit busy over here at DDD headquarters planning lots of fun new yoga classes and my Summer 2014 Beach Yoga Retreat. I’m really excited to make these announcements!

The 2014 Beach Yoga Bliss Retreat will be held on Kelley’s Island – September 12-14!

The retreat yoga classes will be held on the grounds in front of the Kelley’s Island Brewery overlooking Lake Erie. This is going to be a full weekend of yoga, chakra dance, meditation, and a Saturday night dance party at the Kelley’s Island Brewery. There will also be a special yoga retreat weekend menu and specials at the Kelley’s Island Brewery for retreat participants.  If you want to spend the night on the island Friday or Saturday night you will need to make your own arrangements at one of the awesome B&B’s cottages, or hotel.

Afternoon: Free time to explore Kelley’s Island. There will be opportunities for Thai yoga massage and reflexology appointments and other activities to be announced as part of the retreat. There will be a special yoga retreat weekend menu and specials at the Kelley’s Island Brewery.

The Yoga of Bob Marley, The Beatles & The Grateful Dead!

“One love! One heart! Let’s get together and feel all right.” – Bob Marley

If you take a moment to think about those lyrics, you’ll believe that Bob Marley must have been a yogi at heart because those words have the exact same meaning as namaste. The light inside of me honors the light inside of all beings … let’s get together and live in peace!

Bob Marley wasn’t the only musician with the heart of a yogi, and if you listen closely to the lyrics of some of our most popular musicians, you will find the core teachings of yoga.

Join me for three different two-hour musical vinyasa journeys into the music and, yes, yogic teachings of Bob Marley, The Beatles, and The Grateful Dead at Yoga Bliss Akron.

Each class will start with a brief discussion about the music and yogic messages of one featured artist, followed by an all-levels vinyasa flow to their music, and class will end with a peaceful guided meditation.

Since The Grateful Dead were masters of improvisation, we’ll be sure to explore the beauty and freedom of flowing freestyle asana in each of the classes and, if you like, some yoga mat dancing. Grab your tie-dye t-shirt, and join us for one or all three workshops: $20 each, or all three for $50.

Yoga Bliss Akron | Sunday, March 23 12:30 – 1:30 | Meet the Heat |  Have you always wanted to try a class in the hot room at Yoga Bliss but felt a little intimidated by the heat? Come join me and meet the heat in a welcoming slow flowing vinyasa class with lots of breaks to catch your breath and wipe off the sweat. This slower paced yet invigorating practice will include time for a long sweet savasana and guided meditation. Find your bliss in a fun and supportive environment. Class length: 60 minutes All levels welcome.

Yoga Bliss Akron | Sunday, April 6, 2014 | 1:00 – 3:15 PM | Beginners’ Workshop

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? If you are seeking a class that will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment, then join me for this yoga workshop! In the workshop you’ll learn about the background of yoga, pranayama (breathing) exercises, step-by-step instruction of the basic asanas (yoga postures) to demonstrate proper alignment and safety.

Suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented to ensure that everyone can participate, and we’ll review proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. What to bring: A yoga mat, water, and an open beginner’s mind. Questions will be encouraged and are welcome throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing.
