Beginners Workshop @ Yoga Bliss Green

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? If you are seeking a yoga experience that will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to yoga. Next, we’ll move on to warm-ups, pranayama (breathing) exercises, step-by-step instruction of the basic asanas (yoga postures) to demonstrate proper alignment and safety. Throughout the workshop, suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented to ensure that everyone can participate, and we’ll review proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. What to bring: A yoga mat, water, and an open beginner’s mind. Questions will be encouraged and are welcome throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). Class size is limited to 16 students so register early to secure your space! Workshop fee: $30

Sunday Night Relax & Recharge @ Yoga Bliss

If you are seeking detailed asana and meditation instruction, or desire a slower paced yoga practice with longer holds and focus on breath and proper alignment, this class is for you! Beyond Beginners’ 4-week Class Series @ Yoga Bliss Akron

This class series is perfect for those who have completed the Beginners’ Series or workshop and for those looking to explore and deepen the spiritual side of their yoga practice. Each class will build on the foundation of the Beginners’ Series while adding more advanced balance, twisting, and standing asanas, and beginning arm balances and inversions, all with a focus on proper alignment and quieting the mind. This series will include teachings from the yoga sutras and cover the eight limbs of yoga, with an emphasis on learning how to meditate. Each session will end with a guided meditation practice. Throughout the series suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented, along with proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. Prepare to learn, laugh, relax, and grow deeper in your yoga practice in these highly motivating classes. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). Class size is limited to 16 students so register early! Classes will be held on Mondays. Workshop fee: $55 for 4 sessions

All Levels Vinyasa Flow @ Sequoia Wellness

Vinyasa means “flow” and employs the technique of connecting postures, or asanas, into different sequences. This practice emphasizes matching breath to movement. Vinyasa yoga is one of the most commonly practiced styles in the West. It is derived from the Ashtanga series as developed by Sri Pattabhi Jois but differs from it in that a vinyasa class does not follow a set series of poses. Therefore, any vinyasa yoga class can vary widely from the next. As the name suggests, this yoga class consists of a mindful and fluid flow of poses, with a focus on the breath. This class is designed to help develop strength, improve flexibility and balance and reduce stress. Appropriate for students of all levels as modifications will be offered by the teacher.

Gentle Flow @ Yoga Bliss

Gentle Flow classes begin with warm-ups and proceed to step-by-step asana instruction, providing you with an active yet gentle practice that focuses on breath work, strengthening of the core and back, stretching, toning, relaxation, and meditation. This class will help you open up areas of tightness, such as hips and shoulders, and get you moving with basic Sun Salutations sequences—always with suggestions for modifications and proper alignment. Perfect for those newer to yoga, or who desire a slower paced yoga practice in a supportive and fun environment.
