Practice yoga basics in a fun and supportive environment. Each one-hour session will start out with warm-ups and proceed to step-by-step asana instruction, providing you with an active, yet gentle practice, that focuses on breath work, strengthening of the core and back, stretching, toning, relaxation and meditation. This yoga class will help you open up areas of tightness, such as hips and shoulders, and get you moving with basic Sun Salutations sequences. If you are feeling stressed out, you will leave this class feeling refreshed and energized. Please bring a yoga mat. The class is taught by Maria Santoferraro, E-RYT 500 of www.dailydownwarddog.com. All yoga levels are welcome. There is no charge for sessions, but donations for the instructor are welcome. Classes will be held in the Community Room.

Slow Flow & Meditation @ Yoga Bliss

This class is held in the Ganesha Studio.

An uplifting class that begins with a seated pranayama (breath) exercise, followed by a slower paced yet invigorating vinyasa yoga practice. The last 15 minutes of class are dedicated to a long sweet savasana and instruction for a quiet period of meditation to help your mind calm and let your body relax and absorb the peace and stillness. If you are seeking detailed asana and meditation instruction, or desire a slower paced yoga practice with longer holds and focus on breath and proper alignment, this class is for you! Class length is 75 minutes. All levels welcome.

5-Week Beginners’ Class Series @ Yoga Bliss Akron

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? If you are seeking a yoga experience that will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to yoga. Next, we’ll move on to warm-ups, pranayama (breathing) exercises, step-by-step instruction of the basic asanas (yoga postures) to demonstrate proper alignment and safety. Throughout the workshop, suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented to ensure that everyone can participate, and we’ll review proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. What to bring: A yoga mat, water, and an open beginner’s mind. Questions will be encouraged and are welcome throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). Class size is limited to 16 students so register early to secure your space!

Join me at Showse Park this summer for Full Moon Yoga Classes! We’ll do some moon salutations, yoga mat dancing in the moonlight, and definitely, meditate under the radiance of the full moon.

On July 9 Sharon Lichtcsien, RYT-200 will be serenading us with crystal bowls, Koshi chimes, and a gong as we practice and meditate! Within her sound immersion, your soul will be touched by your energy rising.

Please plan to dress in layers in case it cools down when the sun sets.

Full Moon classes will be held on July 9, August 7 and September 6.

All levels welcome. This is a donation based class.
