All levels welcome for this Hatha style yoga class. Each class begins with warm-ups and proceeds to step-by-step yoga instruction, providing an active yet gentle practice that focuses on breath work, strengthening the core and back, stretching, toning, and relaxation. This class will help open up areas of tightness, such as hips and shoulders, and get you moving with basic Sun Salutation sequences – always with suggestions for modifications. “All You Need is Love!” If you take a moment to think about those lyrics, you have to believe that the Beatles must have been yogis at heart, because those words tie to the core teachings of yoga. Join Maria Santoferraro for a musical vinyasa journey into the music and yes, yogic teachings of the Beatles. The class will start with a brief discussion about the music and yogic messages of The Beatles, followed by an all levels yoga flow to their music, and will end with a peaceful guided meditation.

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? If you are seeking a yoga experience that will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to yoga. Next, we’ll move on to warm-ups, pranayama (breathing) exercises, step-by-step instruction of the basic asanas (yoga postures) to demonstrate proper alignment and safety. Throughout the workshop, suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented to ensure that everyone can participate, and we’ll review proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. What to bring: A yoga mat, water, and an open beginner’s mind. Questions will be encouraged and are welcome throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). Class size is limited to 16 students so register early to secure your space!
