In late September we transition into a new season of life, the days get shorter, and the crisper air blowing in brings what can be big changes in schedules and routines. How can we open to transition and welcome change? Join Maria Santoferraro and Mary Pat Murphy for an evolutionary 2-day weekend that is all about transitioning with ease, discovering your inner joy, and reconnecting to your spirit.  A weekend to get quiet, to welcome transformation, to evolve into all we are able to become and see the beauty that lies within you. We will practice yoga, meditate, hang out at the beach, eat well, laugh, relax, journal, and find both peaceful time to be alone and joyous times to connect.

This is Mary Pat Murphy, my first yoga teacher and teacher of the 300-hour YTT program I completed.

She is an awesOMe teacher, and I’m so excited to lead this retreat with her!

We will be staying together in a big Lodge (and maybe a few cottages if needed) just steps away from Linwood Beach, a gorgeous stretch of sandy beach on Lake Erie in Vermilion, Ohio. The lodge has private rooms, a huge common area surrounding a fireplace with comfy couches, and a dining area where we can gather together for meals. I’m really excited that my good friend Ross Dilley of Hollyhock Hill Catering is coming along to be our personal chef for the weekend, he has planned a healthy and delicious menu (check it out below) and we can accommodate any other food needs (gluten free, etc).

Our yoga practices will be on the beach with the sound of the wind and waves for our playlist and the added bonus of watching Mother Nature put on a brilliant art show for us as we watch the sunset. If the weather does not permit outside practice, the lodge has plenty of room for us to roll out our mats and practice right in front of the fireplace. Sheets will be provided to place under your yoga mats to keep the sand away.

When not practicing yoga or eating, there will be free time for rest and relaxation, perhaps scheduling a massage (we’ll have a masseuse available at the lodge for appointments, going standup paddleboarding with Maria (and perhaps try out a little SUPYoga too!), take a short walk into downtown Vermilion and do some shopping, or visit a nearby winery. Downtown Vermilion is really quaint and has a lot to offer.

Please bring any additional beverages or snacks of your choice. There are refrigerators and freezers available for these items.

You are welcome to join us for just the yoga, meditation, and food throughout the weekend.

Yoga & Food Options

Entire weekend of yoga and food (no overnight accommodations): $200 per person

Saturday only yoga and meals (Sat. breakfast, lunch, and dinner): $125 per person

Please sign up in advance for the yoga/food options so we can plan accordingly.

Payments and Terms & Conditions

Step 1) For overnight accommodations, a $100 deposit per-person is required to reserve your retreat space and is non-refundable. For those making reservations for the yoga/food options, the entire amount is due with your registration. Pay via PayPal below or with a check.

Step 2) Once we’ve received your deposit, you will be contacted via email with registration, room selection, and logistical information.

Step 3) Final payment, if applicable, is due on August 30, 2016.  You will be invoiced and can pay by check or online with PayPal. No refunds for cancellations less than 30 days prior to the retreat.

About Mary Pat Murphy, E-RYT 500

IMG_1708Mary Pat Murphy blends her abundant energy and joy for life to create classes that help open body, mind, and spirit. “It’s important to learn to let go, to breathe, to laugh, and to really honor one’s self. Yoga, for me, is a celebration of life. I love the practice and am so grateful that I can share the practice with students and other yoga teachers. Life is a joyful journey even at the hardest moments. Learning to find faith, courage, joy, and celebration everyday is really the practice.”

M.P. has completed three marathons, many 10ks and loves cycling. She deepened her practice and study of yoga in 2000 when she found one of her primary teachers, Todd Norian. M.P. is certified through Todd Norian’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program and has completed his Advanced Teacher Training Program, his Yoga Therapeutics Training Program and many additional workshops. In addition to continuing her studies with Todd, M.P. has deepened her studies with master teacher, Rodney Yee. She has attended his Advanced Teacher Trainings twice yearly for the last eight years. In 2011, MP sold Namaste Yoga Studio so she could deepen her own practice. She developed an advanced 300-Hour Teacher Training which was offered through Namaste Yoga Studio. She continues to offer Teacher Training at the 200 and 300 Hour level as well as teach classes.

About Maria Santoferraro, E-RYT 500

Santorini Side Plank for DDDMaria Santoferraro spent the past 25 years ravaging her body in the crazy corporate world. Needing a detox from an unhealthy Blackberry addiction, boatloads of stress, and an aching back, she sought out a healthier lifestyle and is grateful to have found her physical and spiritual release through the practice of yoga.

Today she is living a balanced and blissful life, teaching yoga, leading international yoga retreats, sharing inspiration on the Daily Downward Dog, creating meditation videos for Hang 10 Meditation, and contributing her writing to Elephant Journal, Daily Cup of Yoga, and MindBodyGreen.

Her playful, heart-opening teaching combines meditation, breath, alignment, and asana in slow-flowing Hatha yoga classes that encourage students to reconnect to their bodies and breath as a means to fill up with joy. Maria incorporates uplifting class themes, music, poetry, laughter, and the spiritual teachings of yoga to create a peaceful environment where students can quiet their minds, let go, and experience a deep sense of calm and well-being.

Maria’s passion for yoga led her to gain her 200-hour teaching certification from Try4Life and also blossomed into this blog. In January of 2016 Maria completed her 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training with Mary Pat Murphy at Namaste Yoga Studio. Over the last few years, Maria has been fortunate to study with Erich Schiffmann, Angela Farmer, Doug Keller, Max Strom, Rodney Yee, Kathryn Budig, and Cora Wen. She plans to continue her yoga education and journey for the rest of her life.

In 2011 she was able to combine two of her greatest passions – yoga and the beach – to start her own beach yoga “studio” on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie, Ohio, where she has shared yoga with hundreds of students.
