NEW Weekday Beginners Series @ Yoga Bliss Akron

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? This series will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment. You will learn the history of yoga, practice breathing exercises, and proper alignment for the basic yoga poses. Throughout the series suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented, so that Every Body will benefit. Each class builds on the next, leaving you with a core foundation to start your yoga practice. Class is held in the non-heated studio and is limited to 16 students so register early!
Workshop fee: $65 for all 4 sessions, or $20 for a drop-in. Please note there are no refunds or make-ups for sessions missed.

Relax and Realign with Reiki, Restorative Yoga, and Essential Oils @ Yoga Bliss

The use of essential oils and Reiki to enhance and complement the yoga practice has been used in many cultures around the world. Essential oils like Sandalwood and Vetiver aid the mind in sensory balance and rejuvenation. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, energy realignment, and relaxation that promotes healing. Together, the combination of restorative yoga, essential oils, and Reiki creates a total mind and body experience.
This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the qualities and benefits that essential oils and Reiki can provide to heal, cleanse, nourish your body and uplift your mood. A relaxing restorative yoga practice to bring alignment to each of the chakras will follow.
Give yourself the gift of some well deserved nurturing time on your yoga mat. You will leave the workshop relaxed and refreshed. If you have been curious about the benefits of essential oils and Reiki, please join Maria Santoferraro and Sarah Greenawalt a Master Reiki practitioner working with Practical and Traditional Usui Reiki systems for this workshop. All levels are welcome.

Beginners Workshop @ Yoga Bliss Akron

Have you always wanted to practice yoga but didn’t know where to start? If you are seeking a yoga experience that will demystify yoga and teach the basics in a supportive and fun environment, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to yoga. Next, we’ll move on to warm-ups, pranayama (breathing) exercises, step-by-step instruction of the basic asanas (yoga postures) to demonstrate proper alignment and safety. Throughout the workshop, suggestions for modifications to poses will be presented to ensure that everyone can participate, and we’ll review proper use of props and the Sanskrit and English names of the yoga postures. What to bring: A yoga mat, water, and an open beginner’s mind. Questions will be encouraged and are welcome throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). Class size is limited to 16 students so register early to secure your space! Workshop fee: $30

 

Sunday Night Relax & Recharge @ Yoga Bliss

An uplifting class that begins with a seated pranayama (breath) exercise, followed by a slower paced yet invigorating vinyasa yoga practice. The last 15 minutes of class are dedicated to a long sweet savasana and instruction for a quiet period of meditation to help your mind calm and let your body relax and absorb the peace and stillness. If you are seeking detailed asana and meditation instruction, or desire a slower paced yoga practice with longer holds and focus on breath and proper alignment, this class is for you! Class length is 75 minutes and is held in the Ganesha (non-heated) studio. All levels welcome.

Are you ready to move deeper into your yoga practice both physically and spiritually? This 4-week class series is designed to take students to the intermediate level with more advanced yoga postures that require a bit more strength and flexibility in a small group setting where you will get lots of guidance on proper alignment. Each week will also include teachings from the yoga sutras and cover the eight limbs of yoga, with an emphasis on learning how to meditate and chant. Prepare to learn, laugh, relax, and grow deeper in your yoga practice in these highly motivating classes. Class is held in the Ganesha Studio (maintained at 70 degrees). All Levels Vinyasa Flow @ Sequoia Wellness

Vinyasa means “flow” and employs the technique of connecting postures, or asanas, into different sequences. This practice emphasizes matching breath to movement. Vinyasa yoga is one of the most commonly practiced styles in the West. It is derived from the Ashtanga series as developed by Sri Pattabhi Jois but differs from it in that a vinyasa class does not follow a set series of poses. Therefore, any vinyasa yoga class can vary widely from the next. As the name suggests, this yoga class consists of a mindful and fluid flow of poses, with a focus on the breath. This class is designed to help develop strength, improve flexibility and balance and reduce stress. Appropriate for students of all levels as modifications will be offered by the teacher.
